ALL ABOUT APM PMQ

The APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), formerly known as APMP, is now known as the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ). This is also equivalent to IPMA level D and SCQF Level 7. PMQ is for people with an understanding of project management and / or previously qualified at PFQ level. We recommend approximately 2 years project management experience as the level of understanding gained from this is much broader and practical than the entry level and examination more complex.

1. APM PMQ COURSE DETAILS

Updated APM PMQ Syllabus

The APM PMQ syllabus has been updated to align with the 'APM Competence Framework'. Key additions include:

New Topics:

  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Sustainability
  • Ethics, Compliance, and Professionalism
  • Transition Management

These changes ensure the syllabus remains relevant and focused on management practices.

Important note: The new PMQ exam does not allow for a PMQ for PRINCE2® Practitioners version. If you are PRINCE2® qualified and wish to become APM PMQ qualified, then the course and exam is now the same as with all other candidates.

New APM PMQ Exam Format

The APM PMQ exam format has been revamped for better accessibility and fairness. Key features of the new format include:

  • Multiple-choice questions: Select the correct answers from a list.
  • Select-from-a-list (missing word): Fill in the blanks with appropriate terms.
  • Short answers: Provide concise responses to specific questions.
  • Long answers: Write a few sentences or a short paragraph to explain your understanding.

Additionally, the pass mark will now be adjusted based on the difficulty of the exam paper, ensuring a fair assessment for all candidates. This new format is designed to accommodate a wider range of candidates, particularly those who are neuro-diverse or non-native English speakers.
