The purpose of the Lean IT Foundation certificate is to certify that you have gained knowledge of the Lean IT terminology, structure and basic concepts and has comprehended the core principles of Lean IT practices. The Lean IT Foundation Certificate is intended to enable the holders of the certificate to apply the Lean IT practices under guidance of a Lean expert. The Lean IT qualification has been awarded 0.5 credits of the 6 complementary credits available to put towards the ITIL Expert certification.

Lean IT is an extension of Lean Principles, applied in an IT environment. The approach is a way of thinking and acting, focusing heavily on organizational culture. Lean IT is associated with the development and management of Information Technology products and services. Lean Principles are concerned with:

  • Increasing customer value
  • Eliminating waste (work that does not add value)
  • Management as a facilitator
  • The involvement of all employees
  • Continual improvement
  • Preserving value with less work
