APM Update 2 of 3: A New Way of Studying for Your APM Exams

Welcome back to our series on the latest updates for APM (Association for Project Management) qualifications! In this second update, we're diving into a fresh approach recently issued by APM as a pre exam requirement, to studying for your APM exams. This is the new Guided and Directed Learning route. Here's everything you need to know.

New Requirements for APM exam Study

APM has rolled out new requirements for study, emphasising a blend of Guided and Directed Learning for each qualification. This change aims to provide a more balanced and comprehensive learning experience.

APM Guided Learning

Guided Learning involves live training sessions with full trainer support. This means you'll be directly supervised and able to receive immediate feedback and guidance.

APM Directed Learning

Directed Learning, on the other hand, is not directly supervised. This includes self-study methods such as OnDemand Training, e-Learning, and utilising various training resources.

How Does This Look for Your Qualifications?

APM PFQ: Project Fundamentals Qualification

PFQ Project Fundamantals Qualification Guided Learning:

• Required Hours: 20 (directly supervised)

• Activities:

o Initial assessment / pre-course review / Learning kick-off session

o Live training days 1 & 2 (log hours)

o Exam answer feedback sessions (log hours)

PFQ Project Fundamantals Qualification Directed Learning:

• Required Hours: 13 (not directly supervised)

• Activities:

o Completing eLearning modules and tasks

o Self-study of training resources

APM PMQ: Project Management Qualification

APM PMQ: Project Management Qualification Guided Learning:

• Required Hours: 32 (directly supervised)

• Activities:

o Initial assessment / pre-course review / Learning kick-off session

o Live training days 1, 2, 3, and 4

o Exam answer feedback sessions o Presentation review and feedback

o Project documents review

APM PMQ: Project Management Qualification Directed Learning:

• Required Hours: 40 (not directly supervised)

• Activities:

o Completing eLearning modules and tasks

o Self-study of training resources
