The range of qualifications developed by APM, the chartered body for the project profession (ChPP), offers a progressive structure for your career development.
APM qualifications offer a clear route to achieving both the Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) and the APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) standards, recognising the competence and success of project professionals.
1. Entry level: APM PFQ (Project Fundamentals Qualification). Essentially the beginners guide to project management. A guide to project management terminology that is essential for anyone wishing to gain a broad understanding of how projects are run and a highly recommended pre-requisite for APM PMQ.
2. Management level: APM PMQ (Project Management Qualification). This level is for anyone wishing to participate in projects in any way. Previous experience in running projects is not essential for candidates but is highly recommended.
3. Expert level: APM PPQ (Project Professional Qualification). This is a comprehensive assessment of project management and is typically undertaken by those with in depth project experience and is an optional route to ‘chartered project professional status’.
These qualifications are accredited by APM (Association of Project Management). It is the only organisation to be awarded professional project management chartered status so the qualifications it offers are highly acclaimed.
In its recent 2020 market trends survey (APM 2020) the average salary for a project professional was £47.500 and a whopping 82% of project professionals were happy with their role. Job satisfaction and salary are the two biggest reasons to choose a career so having a formal qualification for this can be a game changer on any CV.
There have been some notable changes to both the PFQ and the PMQ syllabus as a result of the launch of APM BoK 7th edition so where this more recent study option is available it makes sense to choose it.
